Personal protective equipment in the healthcare sector subject to export licence
An export licence is required for the export of personal protective equipment, such as face masks, splash goggles, and gloves, to countries outside the EU. The Health and Youth Care Inspectorate (IGJ) is the designated and competent authority for deciding on license applications.
In view of the current shortage of personal protective equipment, the Inspectorate will, in principle, not grant any export licences.
Procedure
The IGJ collaborates with the Central Import and Export Office (CDIU) at Dutch Customs. Applications for export licences can be submitted to the CDIU by email to drn-cdiu.groningen@belastingdienst.nl. A decision will be made within five working days.
For the applicable legal regulations, refer to: EU Implementing regulation 2020/402 and Besluit aanwijzing bevoegde autoriteit (Appointment decree by competent authority).
